Biomarker validation of cardiac magnetic resonance analysis of regional myocardial fibrosis in ischaemic heart disease

چکیده
Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) with CMR is commonly assumed to represent myocardial fibrosis; however, comparative human histological data are limited, and there is no consensus on the most accurate method for LGE quantitation. We evaluated the relationship between CMR assessment of regional fibrosis and infarct size assessment using serial biomarkers after ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction
Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
متن کاملThe Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging in ischaemic heart disease.
Magnetic resonance imaging has an increasing role in the assessment of ischaemic heart disease. Its superb spatial and temporal resolution currently allows accurate assessment of cardiac function, regional wall motion, and the extent of myocardial infarction. Regional myocardial perfusion can also be assessed, most commonly by a first-pass technique. Non-invasive imaging of the coronary arterie...
متن کاملCardiomyopathy in Becker muscular dystrophy--does regional fibrosis mimic infarction?
We present a case of a 39-year-old man with Becker muscular dystrophy and severe congestive cardiac failure. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging revealed subendocardial late gadolinium enhancement, similar to that seen in myocardial infarction. He had no risk factors for atherosclerotic coronary artery disease and coronary angiography was normal. We propose that regional subendocardial myocardia...
متن کاملCardiac magnetic resonance imaging in stable ischaemic heart disease
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is a new robust versatile non-invasive imaging technique that can detect global and regional myocardial dysfunction, presence of myocardial ischaemia and myocardial scar tissue in one imaging session without radiation, with superb spatial and temporal resolution, inherited three-dimensional data collection and with relatively safe contrast material. The ...
